Students often see maths as a series of unconnected concepts to learn.  This can lead to maths anxiety and cognitive overload.  


Using consistent and connected manipulatives and representations allows students to make connections.  


The representations, pictured left, show the progression from arrays and area models used at primary to algebra tiles and graphs used at GCSE and beyond.
